Last Game

i tried to post these yesterday with my entry but they wouldn't go so here are just a few pict. of lauren's last game. such a cute group of girls~!
we're going to try to make an apt. to get lauren's hair cut this week. 2 of the girls on her team just cut off a good chunk of their hair so now they have these cute bob hair cuts....which she now wants....i don't think we'll go quite so drastic but i think she'd look cute with a shorter cut....
my sister and niece were in a car accident this weekend. there is nothing worse than living 800 miles away from family and your mom calling you and saying, "did you know your sister was in an accident this weekend?" my heart about fell to the floor! but i knew it couldn't have been too bad by the way she was telling me....some younger kid rear ended them. kim saw this coming as she always checks her rear view mirror....he was looking sideways at something and just back ended them. my poor niece who is 10 was pretty shook up! they ended up hitting the truck in front of them....uh, what a mess. i'm just so thankful they weren't hurt!

Stuff....

hi! feeling like i need to get in here and say hi...not sure i have much to talk about (or i should say anything of great value)....we had a nice weekend. the weather was nice. saturday lauren had her last soccer game! i really liked this group of girls and parents. the coaches were amazing with the girls. and it helps that they have girls of their own (on the team) and that they had played professional soccer! nice! lauren really learned a lot this season but i think a lot of it comes natural to her. she is very athletic and coordinated. she seems to enjoy playing so we'll definitely keep her in this sport for as long as she wants. one of the mom's called lauren a little "mia hamm"! ha then we had a pool birthday party to go to, which was a lot of fun for the girls. and to top off the evening terry and i got a sitter and went out for a really nice dinner. such a cool part of town....i think he called it west central. it wasn't downtown st. louis but not far from the college....anyway lots of neat stores and restaurants in older buildings. we first stopped into this store called Rockefeller....OH my! it was one of the coolest stores....lots of old stuff like huge church windows and big old tables and then some new funky stuff mixed in....boy, i was in heaven. i so wanted to just sit on one of their funky chairs and soak it all up but terry was already out the door before i was 1/2 way through the store. men! dinner was fabulous. we started off with a nice bottle of wine...i think i must of had 3+ glasses which for those of you who know me....it doesn't take much for me to feel the affects of alcohol! yikes. BUT i had to somehow camouflage my woozy state and be "normal" throughout the rest of dinner....otherwise i'd never hear the end of it. note to self: figure out where the bathroom is prior to consuming 3+ glasses of wine...as the b-rooms were in the basement in this old building....steep steps and wine don't mix. i made it just fine but wow i'm glad i only had to do it once! had myself some big ol' crab cakes and some corn succotash....to die for! we left his restaurant and headed to a different restaurant in a different part of town for dessert. (not that we hadn't eaten enough!) we ended up in st. charles in the old part where the streets are still cobblestone. so fun! love it there. such a fun night! terry is unaware of this yet but i am going to make it a habit to call the sitter once a month, every month so we can go out. we just don't do it often enough!
i have more assignments to crank out so i haven't created anything for myself in a while...so i have nothing to share. sorry....
finished cleaning the inside of our upstairs windows today. that is always a chore. i started the windows a few weeks back. i borrowed the neighbors long pole and was able to clean them somewhat decent....our master bedroom has this big window that is right above our entryway, it has a funky arch etc...well, i had that window looking so nice and clean....took me a while as i had to first hose off the siding etc....well, some little birds were (are) building a nest on this lip that overhangs around the arch of the entryway. this was driving terry crazy as there is always bird poop on our steps....i'm the one who cleans it so i'm not sure why it bothers him so....anyway, he had the bright idea to take the pressure washer (see where this is going?) and get rid of the nest. (poor birdies!) ya, grass, straw & mud went flying!!! all over the house and my nice clean window!
what a mess. he was out there with a big garbage bag over himself just-a-spraying! not giving a care in the world to my clean window. i'm wondering if it would have been easier to just get the big ladder out and maybe scrape the nest down with a putty knife or something? hmmm? theres a thought! gotta love em'! now i have to go borrow the pole again....and finish up that one stinkin' window~!
anyway...i've probably rambled on enough....so i think i'll close up for now....have a great week! so hard to believe it's already june!

Catching Up!

Hi! hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. we sure did! we spent 4 days @ truman lake. (the largest lake in missouri) we rented a little cabin at a resort not far from the lake. the weather couldn't have been any nicer...maybe it was a little warm but sunny skies all around! lauren caught her first fish! she was pretty excited....and there was NO way that fish was going back into the lake. terry also had some luck fishing. i, on the other hand don't have any desire to catch fish. as much as i like to eat fish i just don't feel the need....i feel sorry for the little guys. so here are a few pictures of our weekend and lauren's first catch!
the photo of several fish (carp) was taken at the marina. the girls were able to feed them....and then of course kati and lauren. kati wasn't diggin' the life jacket much. guess i can't much blame her...it was like 90 some degrees, no breeze and on the water that reflects the hot sun....go figure! and lauren giving me her sassy pose and fake "cheese"....we had a great time...(thanks melissa and dane for the invite!)
i think that's it for now....have a great week!

Sharing....

morning....i was trying to think of what i could post today being as it's already been a few days since i've blogged. so i thought i would share the two layouts that were recently in the Scrapbook Answers special may issue.... the step-by-step article i did was making your own foam stamps. using the sheets of foam you can buy in any craft store. the swirl stamp i hand cut and the flower stamp on the "our girls" page was cut using a sizzix machine. the only problem i saw in the magazine and on the disc was the letters shifted and no one fixed them before taking the photos for the magazine. i just used staples to attach the heidi swapp letters....i wish they had noticed that prior to taking the pict. but then again maybe that's just my OCD coming out again. ha ha ha
have a good day! ps...thanks for leaving me comments! i'm glad you figured it out tami! hee hee i have a meter on my blog so it tracks how many people visit and where they are from etc........not many leave comments though....so thanks!

Just being a GirL....

Oh my gosh, lauren is crackin' me up! she loves to play dress up! elton john, 80's madona and paris hilton all wrapped up into one! ha ha she told me that girls can wear more than just one earing in each ear. so she has 4! she's quite the character! one day she's body slammin' with the boys and the next day she's parading around in velvet dresses and dangling earings. it's good to be versitile! i'm all for it! well, i'm not all that keen on body slamming but at least i know she can hold her own. ha (michelle, do you recognize the dress? one of sage or maggie's hand-me-downs...she loves it!)

ok, here's the final picture of the living room with all 4 walls painted the chocolate brown. i should have closed the blinds a little but at least you get the idea....after i loaded the picture i realized i had a magazine on the ottoman and something else on the floor...you can't know how much that is bugging me. ha ha (something is out of order!) can you say OCD!!!! geez!

anyone else watch the 2 hour finale of grey's anatomy? i'm the biggest cry baby! my eyes were puffy this morning from crying so much. so glad terry is out of town. he thinks i'm crazy when i cry over tv shows. so it all started when "doc" the dog had to be put down. i love dogs so to have to watch that (ok,i know it's only tv!!!) got the tears rolling....then of course when denny died....had to see that one coming....but it was still devistating. ha ha....ok, i know there has to be someone else out there who cried....so don't be making fun of me!!! love that show....

i finished the living room! i do like it with all 4 of the walls painted. it's very warm and cozy. i'll take a photo soon and share the final outcome with you! better close er' up for now....hugs!

soooo? whatcha' think? it's only 1/2 done...terry wants me to paint the window wall and the small wall behind the staircase. we're planning on getting different furniture for this living room but haven't found any yet and who knows if it will really happen. it looks really good in real life. or i guess that's just my opinion. my neighbors like it but you never know if their just being nice? in the back of their mind their really thinking, "holy crap, what were they thinking?" ha i ran out of paint, which is fine with me. so until i get more we'll live with the 2 walls being painted. i have some big projects coming in the mail so i'll be busy with those for a while.
a few of us from the creative xpress team had assignments last month using the new Cricut machine...we were given the green light to post those layouts in our galleries. here are 2 of mine...EVERYTHING you see on the layouts were created using this handy dandy machine. their amazing! it's like having instant embellishments at the push of a button! i need one! my favorite features of the machine are...
* the ability to cut your shapes/letters from 1"-5.5"
* i love how it has different settings to cut silhouettes or solid shapes/letters. like the flowers you see on my layout of lauren or the circles i have cut on my dad's layout.
* the cricut is super easy to operate!
for the layout of my dad i cut the tags (2 different sizes), #1, Dad, &, Papa and the circles all from the cricut. the word "papa" i used the "charm" feature. that creates a small loop at the top of each letter giving you the ability to adhere the letter by using a brad. so cute!
how cute would it be to cut out 5.5" flowers and use them as wall decor in the girls rooms. the possibilities are endless and just having this nifty machine sitting here at my disposal has been a real treat! i'm going to hate to send it back! if you're thinking of getting one, don't hesitate! i've never been one to have a lot of fussy tools or gadgets but this machine is so versatile it makes all of those other gadgets obsolete!

Taking a Break....

from painting! terry and i finally agreed on a color for our living room and i started painting this morning. i LOVE the color! love love love it! it's called "artist brown" by ralph lauren....it looks like chocolate pudding. i started with the one wall and with terry's influence have started painting the second. i was thinking it might get to be too dark but i think it's going to be ok! it looks good with the cream colored fireplace surround and the cream baseboards....i'll snap a pict. when i'm all done. i have a few other photos to share with you also....just some random shots from yesterday and a layout of lauren...
notice the HUGE bruise on kati's forehead. not to mention there is a matching one on the opposite side. the pictures of kati are from saturday when the 4 of us went to the park and had a picnic. lauren was off playing with some other girls the entire time so i only snapped a few pict of kati.
the first picture is of a project i did about a month ago. i was hoping one of the magazines would want it but no luck so far....i used 2 wooden frames and lots of hardware. 2 hinges are holding the two together & it opens up....the layout of lauren is of her learning to ride her bike. the pictures aren't the best...with lots of distractions in the background but i had to create a page that showcased her riding her bike! ha ha that's kind of a mom thing isn't it! i should probably move on and get our day started. i woke up this morning feeling a little stiff. my shoulders are hurtin'. ha ha have a good day!
ps. i've been thinking about you michelle....she hasn't been around much to keep up with my blog...her mom is fighting cancer and not doing so well right now. so if you do get a chance to read this michelle...know that i'm thinking about you and your family and saying a prayer or two....hugs

Layouts & then some....

so i was able to get a few layouts done over the past few days and thought i would share them. i'm ready to give my scanner the boot! i guess it's probably me but i don't know what i'm doing to get my layouts to look all crooked and funky....but in real life their straight! really! i actually stayed up late... all by myself... in our basement... working on layouts! ha ha my MIL thought it was funny that i didn't like to be alone in our basement after dark. i guess it is pretty silly when you think about it! the development we live in is tucked away in it's own little world with only one way in and one way out. i just have to get window coverings...freaks me out to think someone can see me but i can't see them! now if we had our dog "fargo" here i would feel totally at peace with it! (he lives with grandma and grandpa now & loves it...)
looks like it's going to be 80 degrees here today! a good day to take the girls to the park and have a picnic. guess i don't have anything else to report....have a good day! k

Monday Already!

boy, the weekend just flew by! can't say that i accomplished all that much either! saturday was gloomy. lauren's soccer game was cancelled and we spent the day inside. terry arrived home from his week long trip away and we spent much of the evening catching up with dad. i did manage to whip up these 2 layouts. the one of terry and the girls isn't the best picture but terry is so "anti-pose for pictures" that i have to pretty much use whatever i can get! i love the background of the photo. we were in downtown st. louis and the buildings in the background are framed in by the arch. (you have to look close but there is an "r" in the word girls....it's hard to see w/ the brown)
speaking of brown....gonna buy me some brown chocolate paint today! yum! terry and i have been toying with the idea of painting our one wall (fireplace wall) in the living room a dark brown....i looked through my pile of swatches and found a brown we both liked and i'm just going to go for it. the fireplace surround is an off-white and it's a little chunky so i think the brown is either going to look great or we'll hate it. which would mean i would just have to paint over it, again! my other thought was a "burnt red"....not bright scarlet red and not maroon...something in between...so we'll see how the brown goes. it's just paint, right! the easiest way to make a huge difference in a room! i'll keep you posted!
not sure what's on the menu for the week. lauren has her last day of swimming on tues. she's pretty excited about it....they have a huge water slide and fountains etc...and i guess the last day of class they turn all of that on and let the kids play. i signed her up for more classes but they won't start until june. it's hard to believe this will be her last month of preschool too! april flew by! have a great week! hugs....

Random stuff...

finally getting around to creating a layout just for the fun of it! i got my mits on the new urban windows collection from we r memory keepers (thanks again kristy!) and i can't tell you enough how much i LOVE these papers! the patterns and the colors are so me! burnt orange, browns and kiwi green....yum-o! i used it sparingly on this layout...i've got to make it last you know.

anyway....not much else going on here. terry has been out of town all week and returns saturday. after about day 4 i am so ready for him to come home. the girls are very good, in general....but when it comes time to come in at night or to take a bath etc....look out. grandma got an earful on the phone last night. they weren't happy with me. i think most of it is because their so stinkin' tired they tend to get ugly and grouchy!

not much of a post but like i said...not much going on here. maybe i'll have another layout to share later on...oh, one more thing....dee, if you're reading this THANKS again for the generous box of goodies!!! so fun! have a good wk. end!

Girls @ Play

took a few photos of the girls today riding around on the new (used) toy today! they've actually had this little 4-wheeler for about a month now but i was a little s l o w in purchasing a battery for it. our neighbors that moved in across the street gave the girls the 4-wheeler (they have a jeep and a harley battery operated unit) ....we were a little hesitant to accept the gift but how does one turn down a gift. we would have never gone out and bought the girls a battery operated riding toy....we want them to play and get exercise, ride their bikes and scooters and not become dependent on something else doing the work for them.....but i figured i would eventual have to buy a battery and actually use the 4-wheeler to at least show appreciation for the gift we were given, right. so i picked up a battery & charged it up last friday so they would have the 4-wheeler to use over the weekend. good news is they only drove it a few times and would go back and forth from their bikes to the 4-wheeler....i guess we have nothing to worry about!
my darn ear is still friggin' plugged! good gravy...what does it take. i'm just waiting to blow my nose one of these times and have this huge blast go through my ear. not gonna be pretty, i'm sure! but i'm feeling so much better....
terry is off traveling all this week. had him home for a day, just long enough to mow the yard. so i'm hoping we get some rain this week so i can spend some much needed time indoors. i have yet to figure out how so many people get so many layouts done (work for so many companies) when they have kids at home? if it's nice outside there is no way these two girls will let me stay inside to work in the basement. soooo, doing a little rain dance :) hee hee i did get all of my assignments done and mailed off today. chow for now.....

Ok so I wasn't quite @ 100%

man, this cold is hangin' on for dear life! i'm now thinking i must have had an infection and had i gone to the dr. when i should have it would probably be cleared up by now! but in order for me to go to the dr. i really need to be on my death bed. i've never been one to run to the dr. when i have a cold or some other minor issue that i know will fix itself if given time. i get this philosophy from my dad! ha ha so i'm still all stuffed up and my ear is still plugged. good thing is i can taste my food again! or maybe that's not such a good thing...it's was a good weight loss method. but boy it's annoying!
i still have 3 projects to finish up for CX. uhg! i'm ususally on top of my assignments and their in the mail by now. but terry is back home today...he was in florida, "working?" for 3 days. do you get a sunburn when you work? ok, maybe if you are a lifeguard or work in the fields without your shirt on.....but a shirt and tie kind of job....hmmmm? working, yes that's what we call it! ha ha i'm just kidding....they had some down time and managed to hit the beach etc....terry burns so easy from the sun. i remember one time when we were dating and we were at my parents lake home out in the speedboat in the middle of the lake.... well, the sun was reflecting off of the glass windows and terry just got fried. poor guy was crispy!
got an e-mail from Scrapbook Answers the other day....they liked one of the article proposals i had sent them and want to use it in their upcoming special sept. issue. i'm pretty excited about that! should be a fun piece to do! you'll have to check out the special may issue that is out now....i did a step-by-step article on making homemade foam stamps. there is also a layout and how-to piece on the disc that is included with the magazine.
is anyone going to the Scrapbook Answers girls weekend in aug.? several of us from the design team are going to go to help out with the classes etc. but what i'm really looking forward to is the spa treatments :) and going on a "mini me" vacation. (wink!) if you haven't heard about the retreat you'll have to check it out! they haven't given us a lot of information yet so i can't dish anything out as of yet....
well, hopefully this week i can be a little more creative and share some projects/pictures with you....always seems a little boring w/o pictures! enjoy your sunday!

i'm back...

thanks to my dear husband we all managed to catch nasty colds/ear infections etc...i was the last to get it and it's still hanging on but at least i feel human again. although, i still can't taste my food and my ear is plugged. what a bad combination that is! i've resorted to chewing gum now to try and pop my ear. will that work (it hasn't yet)...works when you're flying. good thing is i've lost 5 lbs. in 5 days! gotta love that...
it's my parents 43rd wedding anniversary today! man, that's a long time. guess we had better start thinking and planning for their 50th! :) my sister and i are big planners. probably my sister more-so. she's always got something in the works!
i was able to crank out 3 of my 6 projects that are due (soon) but i don't have any pict. or layouts to share with you this time. it's a lame post, sorry. :)
i think we're heading out shortly to take the girls to the park. the weather has been beautiful and looks like it will stay that way for a while. i've got a good farmers tan going already! alright....maybe i'll have something more fun and exciting to chat about next time...chow

Results....

sharing a few photos from kati's b-day yesterday... they somehow got out of order. she wasn't happy once we lit the candles, as you can tell by the expression on her face (photo 1). and the 3rd pict. was her attempt at blowing out the candles. the cake was so good. i didn't realize how lopsided it looked until i took the pictures. oops!
only bad thing is we have 1/2 of it in the fridge....better invite the neighbor kids back over for round 2 or i'll end up eating it! lauren stayed home with dad yesterday while kati and i went to the butterfly house and to the park w/ some neighbor friends. i think she had a fun b-day! well, i have oodles of stuff to do and i'm not getting it done by sitting here so i guess i'll sign off. hope everyone has a wonderful easter!

KaTi is 2 Today!

happy birthday dear kati~here is kati last year on her 1st birthday. we have a fun day planned for kati. lauren and i, along with some neighbors are going to go to the butterfly house. we've been there before but it is such an amazing place to take kids. we packed a lunch and will have a picnic at a nearby park. i'm praying lauren is feeling better. she's managed to catch terry's nasty cough and has had a fever off and on. lauren has swimming later today as well, then it's back home for cake and icecream w/ some of the neighbor kids. i made a cake last night that has 8 layers of cake. chocolate cake and white cake w/ chocolate and white fluffy frosting. then white chocolate shavings on top! :) the lid for the cake stand wouldn't fit over the cake. ha ha better run....oh by the way it's supposed to be 86 here today :) love it! i think we've definately adjusted...yesterday was in the low 80's and it didn't feel all that hot. but then again the humidity wasn't there either.

Bottle Em'!

don't you just wish you could bottle your kids...preserve them right now? give them an anit-aging serum of sorts (give yourself a double dose). i am loving the age my girls are at right now...5 & almost 2 (in 2 days!) lauren is a huge help (most of the time) and is growing into this sweet little girl who is kind and thoughtful and so caring of others. and kati is this little sassy personality that hops around saying hi to everyone and has a constant smile on her face. (ok, so she has a grouchy, honery, stubborn side too) but she's pretty upbeat most of the time. it's hard to believe she'll turn 2 on thursday. when my in-laws were here last wk. end we had talked about this and how it seems like just yesterday kati fit into the palm of our hands. seriously! kati was 7 weeks early, weighing just 4lbs.8oz. to look at her now you'd never know....but we couldn't believe it has been almost 2 years already. this is why i feel taking pictures and scrapbooking their lives & milestones is so important. i would hate to have several more years pass and regret not having taken more pictures.
have not created much over the past few days. worked on a project for Scrapbook Answers but other than that...notta! i started putting the girls easter baskets together and realized poor kati has a box of crayons. ooops! i'll be headin' to the store. ok, well guess that's all for now. hugs...

Sunday stuff

hi...guess it's about time for another post. we had a great weekend and a wonderful visit from my in-laws. the weather cooperated and we actually had temps in the 80's. lauren and kati had a blast with their grandparents...well, who wouldn't when they drag with ooodles of presents (thanks kim...kati hasn't opened her gifts yet). ok, some gifts not so good...like the 500 piece puzzles for lauren that took all 5 of us to tackle in 3 days.(that was just one puzzle) still didn't finish. poor terry was determined and spent several hours on saturday finishing the puzzle. oh, and we can't forget the great buy....my mother-in-law picked up this leapster l-max game set for 15 bucks...regularily over $50. ya, well, if we HAD the actual hand held game system that the games GO INTO it would be a great buy (ha ha)....so terry and his dad head to target to pick up the system lauren needs to play the games....it was a good laugh... we had thought about getting this for lauren anyway, it just happened sooner than antisapated. but lauren loves it and i don't mind if she plays educational games...as long as other activities are thrown in and we don't veg for hours on end!
well, the layout i posted on thursday didn't make the cut. looks like i'm not moving on to round 6. little bummer....sounds like the prize package would have been a good one....oh well. i have a theory and an opinion on all of it but i won't go there....
i whipped up this layout the other day. the pictures are from the circus last year in fargo. this is lauren and her cousin sydney getting a ride from an elephant (obviously). the expressions that are on laurens face in the pictures are priceless.....
kati turns 2 this week! we had a mini party for her w/ her grandparents while they were here... nothing major, just some cupcakes. i couldn't even find the candles. how lame am i? i'll find them before the 13th i promise kati!
night....have a good week! k

Been a while....

hi! just thought i'd pop in here and say hi....just in case some family members read this and are wondering if we're ok after the storms rolled through here on sunday. we're all ok. terry was out of town, go figure. but had called earlier in the day to tell me to keep an eye on the weather channel. so i knew it was coming. it rolled through just when they said it would. the tornado sirens went off just before 5. hate that! hate bad weather...i don't think anyone really likes it....i take that back, isn't there "tornado chasers" or some darn thing....crazy. anyway, we were lucky but other parts of missouri were hit, & 3 people died.
getting ready for our company tomorrow (my in-laws). i don't have much to do around the house other than touch ups so i'm not really sure what i've been doing these past few days. started a layout yesterday but haven't finished...finally dug through the tubs of clothes. so kati has lots of new (hand-me-downs) clothes to wear for the summer. oh, and started a low carb diet! so far so good!
i do have some other exciting fun news. i'm going to phoenix in aug. !!! ok, so NOT a real treat to head to arizona in aug. (HOT) but it's hot here too...scrapbook answers is having an all girls weekend retreat (more details to come on their website soon) and several us are heading down to help out for the retreat. i'm pretty stoked! i haven't been out and about for a long time. never been to a "big" scrapbooking event. i've been some what sheltered. i'm not all that fond of the local scrapbooking store closest to me so i haven't taught a class since i lived in alaska and taught for michelle. i miss it a lot. so maybe this retreat will help me get back into teaching. i'm so looking forward to meeting some of the other designers and of course the sba team (editors). BUT i have to say thanks to my hubby for letting me go and staying home with the girls. it just so happen to have all worked out....
have a great day....better get back at it!
